Offering retreat space in the
oak woodlands outside of Ukiah, CA
What is Mariposa?
Mariposa offers retreat space and programs in the oak woodlands just 15 minutes from downtown Ukiah. Whether you're looking to visit for a weekend getaway or a place to host your next workshop or retreat, we welcome you! Our charming, rustic architecture and the 115 acres of woodlands we steward are a special place, and we can't wait to share them with you!

Our Purpose
Mariposa Institute is a nonprofit organization dedicated to collective liberation through connection, stewardship, and education.
A Prayer for Land and Peoples
A Land Acknowledgement
We acknowledge the land that Mariposa
is situated on
is not ours.
Whose ancestral lands it is exactly
we do not know at this time
because “Northern Pomo” does not tell
who was created here, gathered here, lived here since the beginning of time.
We acknowledge this land was stolen
through lies, heinous violence, and genocide,
whose effects still ripple today.
We aim to do right by the original peoples of this place;
If you trace your origins here, we invite you to return.
We would love to share with you what this place has to offer.
We attempt to steward the lands in our care
in the best ways we know how
And offer our spaces for healing and connection with the land.
We offer them at no or low cost
To tribes and Native-led groups and organizations of our area.
We pray to learn the true names of this place,
tell the truth about the history of Native peoples,
And cocreate a future here together.

SUPPORT THE WORK
We need your help!
As an organization both serving and sustained by our communities, our ability to continue our work depends on contributions from folks like you! If you are in a position to make a donation, please know that it goes towards:

-
Maintaining our current infrastructure
-
Improving physical accessibility, and
-
Sustaining our capacity to offer free & reduced rates & land access to historically marginalized communities (specifically, Black & Indigenous individuals and organizations & other communities of Color).

We welcome contributions, and recognize that offering is a testament toward your energetic and financial commitment toward helping us fulfill our purpose. We see resource sharing & redistribution as a foundational part of our work towards collective liberation! Thank you for helping manifest this critical cultural work with us!
